ARTICLE: 'A Novel Approach for Hand Analysis'

Post  Martijn (admin) on Sun Oct 03, 2010 11:52 pm

An experimental article based on the 'elemental approach' for handshape diagnosis by researchers from India:

A Novel Approach for Hand Analysis Using Image Processing Techniques

ABSTRACT:

Palmistry is the art of characterization and foretelling the future through the study of the palm, also known as palm reading, or chorology. With the help of palm lines and fingers one can know the characteristics as well as can foretell the future of a person but still this field is not much technically developed and a person has to analyze hands personally. In this paper we propose a ratio based system to characterize persons on the basis of their palm width-length and their finger length. We applied image processing techniques to generate and analyze the results.

A rather funny passage in the article is the following (page 322):

"...We tested our approach for palm images of well known personalities like Dalai Lama, Sir Arthur Salivan, Sara Bern Heart, William Whitley, General Sir Redvurse Buller, Benazir Bhutto and so on and found that the result produced by our system are matching with the known characteristics about these personalities."

Very Happy What an unusual combination in this article... modern image processing techniques, 5-element hand shapes, planetary mount interpretations as in traditional palmistry, and handprints from Cheiro! I notice Martijn's name in the 'references' section.
Thumb up
