the book "practical palmistry" by narayan dutt srimali
I have purchased this book because it is easy to obtain by amazon kindle, it is cheap, and the author has a very good reputation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narayan_Dutt_Shrimali. Alas, the book starts with about 30 pages of fairytales in honor of the writer. The faint hope afterwards that the author will come up with information that will show the spiritual supremacy of indian culture is soon gone with numerous judgmental assertions like for example: "if the finger of saturn is longer by 1/2 an inch or more than the index finger, it can be safely concluded that the person will certainly be a murderer."
I am new to palmistry, and hold hinduism in high regard. Am I missing something because I am not knowledgeable about this subject, or should I look somewhere else for indian palmistry.

Thanks for sharing this yogiman,
For me this is enough to say that this author Narayan Dutt Shrimali can best be ignored completely... because I know that there are literally more than a hundred million of people in the world who have a middle finger that is more than 1/2 an inch longer than the index finger - actually, in far most people the middle finger is much longer than the index finger!!!
Here's a link to the passage inside this Dutt's book (which includes many other likewise unreliable suggestions for how to recognize a murderer):
http://books.google.nl/books?id=ni5vDSZKCKoC&pg=PA71&dq=Practical+palmistry+Dutt+%22certainly+be+a+murderer%22&hl=en&sa=X&ei=jSirU83yMcPcOYGbgdAM&ved=0CCEQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=Practical%20palmistry%20Dutt%20%22certainly%20be%20a%20murderer%22&f=false
PS. On page 141 the author also suggests for the heart line:
"30 If the line is very thin and long, the person is surely a murderer without fail."
I think it is obvious that this rather suggestive type of guidelines is an indication that this book is full of superstitious nonsense.

Thanks, Martijn. I find it a shame that there are quite a few people who see the esoteric domain as a source of easy money.

Well yogiman, I am not sure... but maybe the author does believe in his naïeve ideas???
Anyway, I think you and I agree that it is kind of sad that readers might pick up such ideas.
PS. Nice to see that you live in A'dam!

Manoj,
I bought this NarayanDutt Shrimali's Book on Palmistry more than 20 years back and could not understand anything from it. For other palmistry books Martijn keeps on posting the best sellers in Palmistry in the world.

Well, the book is still listed as the no.83 inside the 2013 TOP 100 bestsellers ranking:
http://www.handresearch.com/book/palmistry-top-100-amazon-books-81-90.htm
Only two copies have been solved through the Amazon network in 2014 so far, and I really hope that this number will not get any higher... as the book is also filled with lots of 'superstitious nonsense' about death - likely based on (outdated) folklore.

Martijn,
I bought this book and read only a few Chapters. All that was written is this means this and that means this and what not. After reading Benham's book wholly based on logic I could not digest it. He has mentioned somewhere that there is way to find your Date of Birth through fingers but he has not explained how. Writing sensational things with no explanation is not what I look for. Another book you mentioned about St. Germain or what it was also I bought. Reading all those palms present there initially I liked it but could not proceed further. And to think somebody recommended me to buy that book.
