Arch fingerprints: what are the facts?

Post  Martijn (admin) on Thu Mar 26, 2015 5:34 pm

I have written an article summarizing 10 facts which illustrate the significance of arch fingerprints:

1 - FACT: Arches represent the 3rd most common category (after ulnar loops and whorls)
2 - FACT: Arches are usually most common on index fingers
3 - FACT: Arches represent low volar pad development
4 - FACT: Arches prevalence varies between countries & continents (most common in the southern tip of Africa, least common in Oceania)
5 - FACT: Arches are usually more common in females (about 1% more common than in males)
6 - FACT: Arches tend to have a different distribution across the fingers in genetic disorders
7 - FACT: Arches have only rarely been associated with diseases
8 - FACT: Arches appear more common in introverts (up to twice more common)
9 - FACT: Tented arches represent an intermediate stage between arches, radial- and ulnar loops!
10 FACT: Some famous people have arches! (e.g. Malcolm X)

Many more details about these facts are presented in the article:

(You are welcome to discuss arch fingerprints inside this topic and/or share more facts!)

Based on a brand new approach involving 18 fingerprint pattern types - including 5 different types of arch-related patterns - arches can now also be recognized to get associated with a 'phlegmatic temperament'; the details are presented in this article, titled:
