Hi
Just wanted to share this paper done/dissertation by Dr. Hemlata Dhanraj Chimne on the Study of Palmar Dermatoglyphics in Coronary Artery Disease. Very interesting and really enjoyed her section on Review of Literature.

Hi Tap!
This is an excellent resource! Thank you for sharing!

I like how they have listed the many researchers throughout the decades and their contributions to the science of dermatoglyphics!

Looks like we'd have to purchase it to download to our computers or is there another way? I could open and read it, but could not save it to print or view off line.

thanks!!

Thumbs up!

Hi Patti, Stalin and Martijn
It does hold a lot of information. I was not able to find if any information was used on the life style of the case and control subjects ( dietary habits, physical exercise and if they smoke/have smoked) Really I have just skimmed through it fairly quickly, yet I did enjoy the information on researchers and contributions made too. I think it has to be purchased for download. I can not even get the “search” to work . I really dislike scrolling through it on the computer. I find it much easier to flip through the pages. Oh well. Glad you all liked it.

Hi Lynn
Happy to share it. I want to make time to go through it better soon. It seems that this study showed a tendency for people with a higher frequency of whorl fingerprints to develop CAD (of course palmar whorls and the atd angles are factors too). This is not the first study I have read about to support this. So, have you noticed that people with these genetics have personalities which lead to the lifestyles that play into the high risk factors for CAD? I have not noticed that, but only looked at a few peoples hands.

Palmar Dermatoglyphics in Coronary Artery Disease Empty Re: Palmar Dermatoglyphics in Coronary Artery Disease

Post  Martijn (admin) Thu Apr 28, 2011 2:05 pm

Hi Tap,

I have planned to feature this topic in the perspective of 'Multi-Perspective Palm Reading'.

Yes, the position of the 'axial triradius' is highly significant for many (congenital) heart problems.

But I am not sure about the 'whorls', it may very well be that there are conflicting research results regarding that aspect - anyway, it would for sure require to see a combination of features before one can speak about a reasonably 'worrisome' indication.

So, in general we should also be aware that in isolation both the 'whorl' and the high positioned 'axial triadius' should not be associated with CAD.

And we also have to be very aware of the difference between 'congenital-' and 'acquired' heart disease, see for example the following study (which includes a few palm prints):
http://jama.ama-assn.org/content/197/9/689.full.pdf

I hope this makes sense?

(If not, please continue to share your thoughts, observations & questioins)

PS. I also made a few comments about this topic in the following discussion:
