Alcohol is more harmful than Heroin and Crack!

NOV 3 - The Lancet reports that alcohol is most harmful - though heroine and crack are more lethal. On a scale of dangerousness from 0 (no risk) to 100 (extremely dangerous) alcohol gets a score of 72. Heroin at 55, crack at 54. Heroin, crack (derived from cocaine) and methamphetamines have been more deadly than alcohol. But taking into account the effects on society, alcohol is the most dangerous way suggests a study published in the medical journal The Lancet.

The overall harm scores for the other drugs that were assessed were:

• Alcohol - 72;
• Heroin - 55;
• Crack - 54;
• Cocaine – 27;
• Tobacco – 26;
• Amphetamine/speed – 23;
• Cannabis – 20;
• γ-Hydroxybutyric acid – 18;
• Benzodiazepines (eg, valium) – 15;
• Ketamine – 15;
• Methadone – 14;
• Mephedrone – 13;
• Butane – 10;
• Khat – 9;
• Ecstacy – 9;
• Anabolic steroids – 9;
• Lysergic acid diethylamide – 7;
• Buprenorphine – 6; and
• Mushrooms – 5.

I think this guy is nuts... it's not even a proven theory, is it??? I wish my nails would grow when I have a drink! If anything, it should make the nails weaker because alcohol can deplete nutrients from your body, such as calcium.

I am very speechless right now, but I'll try and just let you guys in on it all.

I'll start with the most simple of them all, crack. Cocaine addiction would have to be the least of the three, although inhaling formaldehyde and whatever else get put in that day can potentially be the most harmful of them all. Cocaine addiction, although some people would argue with me, is simply mentally addictive. It creates a memory pathway in your brain, overshadowing all other forms of pleasure besides itself and other euphoric drugs.

The reason people have trouble kicking the habit, or find themselves relapsing, is that they often find themselves around temptation before their brain recovers. Even so, the user never forgets the effects, and the pathway is there for life.

Alcohol would be the second-most addictive and damaging being as it, after months of everyday consumption, does develop into a physical withdrawal symptom, often known as "the shakes". It can become so severe after years of daily consumption, that shakes, due to missing their daily dose, can develop into convulsions, seizures and hallucinations.

The reason people end up being alcoholics is open to debate. If you ask me though, it's because it's cheaper than a meal and legally sold on every corner. Plain and simple.

Now, heroin, is by far the most addictive, self destructive, and socially bankrupt substance ever known to man. Like crack addicts, users will turn to crime to support their habits. The only difference is that unlike users of cocaine, heroin, during withdrawel symptoms, causes the body to completely shut down.

Not only do those physically addicted vomit, lose control of bowel movements and get "sick", with symptoms such as hot-flashes, cold-sweats, and other flu symptoms, while withdrawing users experience extreme pain, muscle contractions, sleeplessness, and hallucinations, in severe cases it can cause the user to die. This process begins 12 hours after the last dose.

Anyways, I guess that's one topic here I've done my research on. Oh! And the reason nails appear to grow after a person dies is simply that the skin shrivels and retracts, exposing previously covered portions of the nail!

Ah, I see you guys covered that already. Maybe sine alcohol dehydrates you faster...Anyways I wouldn't mind if it really did increase growth. I bite my nails when I'm stressed out.
