'God Given Glyphs' by Jennifer Hirsch - a book about 5 element chirology

Wanna take a look inside Jennifer Hirsch's new book 'God Given Glyphs' (2009)?
There are 2 options available:
- First, you can study the 'contents' (index) of her book via her website (see right menu - link: 'Look Inside')
- Second, now you can also read my review of 'God Given Glyphs' - the book about 'Five Element Chirology' (= a.k.a. the buddhistic equivalent of palmistry)... more details available via the large book-picture below.
PS. There is a good chance that the author will sooner or later join this forum - so then you can actually submit questions about the book!

Earlier this year Jennifer Hirsch's book was officially launched... successfully!

Re: 'God Given Glyphs' by Jennifer Hirsch - a book about 5 element chirology
Very interesting information.Especially her site where i read almost everything yesterday xD
I think i find elements quite easy to use,and kinda sum-up your knowledge about people-hands,put it in boxes with labels.
and i think i got interested in fingerprint reading, i was always kinda skeptic about it,and it seemed like too much needle picking.
I think that some people are afraid to put things in boxes/categories cos they are afraid or are too attachable.
But you can use that method when thinking,researching,exploring...its essential actually.
And that is what is stopping us from evolving, not understanding of ourselves and our given bio bodies.
edit:
i hope she joins the forum.and i kinda have a vision if anyone who joins here gives his knowledge of what he is doing, there will be like a spontaneous palmistry-research club.
don't know if there was previous community, and is just transferred here?

Re: 'God Given Glyphs' by Jennifer Hirsch - a book about 5 element chirology
hi Stefanman, great to hear that Jennifer's website has inspired you regarding the elements and the fingerprints. Fingerprints are so important, they say such fundamental things about why we are like we are. we can discuss it more in the dermatoglyphics section.
Yes, the elements are quite easy to use - we are surrounded by the elements all the time, so we all understand them from nature. Whilst they do kinda sum-up your knowledge about people&hands, put it in boxes with labels,,,, it can become very complex and also very specific!
For example, start with handshape = 4 possible elements. combine with skin texture, 4x4 = 16 possibilities, add fingertip shape 4x4x4 = 64 possibilities, add fingerprints 4x4x4x4 = 256 possible combinations, and so far we only looked at 4 aspects of the hand!! But that is what makes us all unique!! I love it!!
PS Yes there have been several online handreading communities over the years. The most recent favourite, hosted by Sue from Palmistry International, closed its doors earlier this month. Martijn has saved the day by reuniting us here!

Thanks Martijn
I know you and Lynn speak highly of this book. As Lynn just pointed out so many combinations to apply to the hands. Everytime I read a book and look at forum posts I feel a little closer to putting it all together.
PS
Thanks for merging my intial post into this post.

Re: 'God Given Glyphs' by Jennifer Hirsch - a book about 5 element chirology
Hi friends and thank you again and again Martijn for your review of my book, for featuring it at your website and now here at this beautifully designed and user friendly forum. I love the colours you have chosen, very serene and elegant.
Like you dearest Lynn
, I love the realm of the elements (of which we are composed) ... both in and out of the hands.
Before and during my writing the pages in the book about the element archetypes, I meditated for hours on the individual elements, lying on the earth, making fires etc etc....
I consider myself very blessed to have access to the natural elements... many millions of people e.g. city dwellers are out of touch with or have no access to the simple restorative alchemy and healing that the elements, just as they are, provide.
In my readings I might recommend that a person might for example simply dig a hole and plant a plant as a symbol of their commitment to nurturing themselves (the earth nurtures, endures, stabilises and so on).... and that they do this with awareness of the healing power of the ritual ('ritual is the formula through which harmony is restored') Ditto with water, fire and air, i.e. to use their qualities and principles to help ourselves.
We learned from our chirology teachers many years ago to observe what the elements 'do' in nature, and then to find that resonance (our character traits) within ourselves. Each of the elements is a type of (free 8) medicine, simple, natural and effective... they are remedies for all sorts of 'ailments' or imbalances.
The element system of chirology becomes simple (and amazingly accurate) once you have grasped the basics. It is intricate but not difficult to read hands within the context of the 'five' elements (chi is not an element as such, it is the indefinable life force from which our 4 elements manifest).
Well I could bat on and on about elements and the hands.... but I must go about my day .... love to everyone!

Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for sharing a few more thoughts about how you wrote your book, and what inspired you while writing.
Learning to 'observe' is indeed one of the key-elements to become an expert in this field!

How wonderful, I tried to learned palmistry for years, but had difficulties memorizing the meaning of each line, mount, shape, etc. Only when I learned how to align palmistry with nature, energy flow and observe its presents and affect on our life, my palmistry studies became natural and magical. I think Jennifer's approach to fingerprints is a bridge between our consciousness and subconsciousness.
I am very happy to see you on this forum Jennifer.

Nice. It's great to see another book on Fingerprints. I am definitely going to purchase one. I've learned that the book isn't on Amazon yet.
I will be online really quick and couldn't stay long so I might have missed some of the conversations above.
Just some quick questions to Jennifer:
Where else can I get a copy of your book? I'm from the Philippines. Does your book cover Peacock's eye inside humor loop and other unusual markings?
Thanks and more power!
