What else would you like to see become available at this forum...?
Hello folks,
The forum has been running smoothly during the past few days - while we are still in the very first week of this forum.
All features appear to work just fine.
Do you have any other needs to become available at this forum?

Re: What else would you like to see become available at this forum...?
Dear Martijn;
Is there anyway possible to add like and dislike button on a post similar to youtube to collect the public opinion on the quality of the content. Also a search option based on this.

Hello waqar,
That is not good idea. because, it can cause diversity and group formation among the members. sue in the former forum used mana to value and measure the importance of the member's contribution. That will become another problem. hope, patti will be remembering such issue still hehe. . .

Re: What else would you like to see become available at this forum...?
hi Stalin;
I did not know that some problem happened before due to this feature.
anyway I think if only like button would be there then grouping would not happen. disliker would have to reply and give reason.

Re: What else would you like to see become available at this forum...?
Hello waqar.an,
Thank you for your question!
In response to your request I have now made the Facebook 'like'-button available for each individual topic (and each indiviual page)
.
Does this new option serve your request?

PS. I have just 'liked' this topic... unfortunately, it is not working properly because the vote is only attached to the page, and not to the topic. So, it is only possible to vote for a topic by first clicking on the 'Title of the topic'.

Re: What else would you like to see become available at this forum...?
hi Martijn;
topic wise liking is good enough.
on some pages the like is not sticky in addition to the issue you mentioned.

Yes waqar.an, you're right:
What you described as the 'not sticky' problem... is directly related to using the botton after browsing via the 'latest topic' box (= the moving box with latest 10 updated topics).
Not sure that I will be able to improve this problem... but if people start becomming aware of how they can use the 'like' button efficiently (= by clicking first on the 'title' of the TOPIC BEFORE using the 'like' button ... or they can first click on the title of an individual POST, in order to share their appreciation!), then it should work and become valuable for other users.
Does this make sense so far?

PS. I hope that in time I will be able to deal with this problem more efficiently... maybe it is possible to use some kind of code which will bring all votes inside a topic together in alll individual message? (Sorry, not sure if this is actually possible)
Re: What else would you like to see become available at this forum...?

Sorry waqar.an, I really like your request... but so far I have no suitable technology available.
Let's hope that others can make a suitable suggestion/solution...(?)
Re: What else would you like to see become available at this forum...?
hi Martijn;
It is good so far. I will look for the code if possible.
Thanks.

Re: What else would you like to see become available at this forum...?
Hello martijn,
it will be good if we have a seperate section for non-english speakers- it will be good if it includes europian, asian, russian language.. many non-english knowing palmists are unable to understand and share their knowledge in this forum. . . For Example manfred's website followers are exclusive german speakers. . they can join discussion in this forum as well if we open exclusive section for non-english speakers. chinese language is being the world's most speaking language. . . They speak only chinese. . . if we open new section for non-english speakers, chinese palmists too join with us in discussion. . same thing applicable to russian as well.
infact, it will spread the forum international level soon. . . may be we need to do require advertisement through facebook or something else if you have such plans..

hello fre, if you scroll down to the last message in a topic, underneath you can click
"Watch this topic for replies".
If you want to stop 'watching' a topic, go to your profile 'topics being watched' and you can edit it.

Hello fré,
Thank you for your request!
By the way, did you notice forum section VIa?:
https://www.modernhandreadingforum.com/f23-via-famous-hands-the-hands-of-celebrities-honourable-individuals-remarkable-people
There are already some hands of artists & scientists posted in that section! And everybody is welcome to post the hands of any famous person in that section (when the person does not relate to the 6 sub-forums: VIb to VIg).
But so far there are only 19 'famous hands' posted in section VIa... and since most of these people do not have a common skill/background, I see at this stage no reason to create other sub-forums.
So, right now... I think we better wait with creating new categories of 'famous hands' untill there is a large group of 'famous hands' posted in forum VIa which can be grouped in a new sub-forum.
I hope this makes sense.

Hi Stalin,
A basic condition to safeguard the quality of any forum, is the ability of forum moderators to monitor the forum content + being able to respond.
Unfortunately, since none of the moderators (me, Lynn & Patti) master any of the other 'world languages', introducing other languages is not an option ... since our moderator-team would likely not be able to monitor & respond properly to posts in other languages.
(I would also expect that introducing other languages could induce technical problems)

Re: What else would you like to see become available at this forum...?
Hello martijn,
Thanks for the answers. I think, most of the european languages are containing english alphabets. For example, german language is also containing english fonts . so, I think, it would not cause any technical problems. and being a professional palmist and german native, manfred can moderate such section if people discuss in german language. . . The main point of concern why i intrigued on this matter is that many knowledgable palmist could not come into the discussion due to the language barriers. secondly, manfred can also share the content if some new aspects are been discussed among german palmists. we have already a section called 'chinese palmistry'. but so far not even a single discussion done in favor of the chinese method of hand reading. I think it is absolutely due to the communication problems. chinese follows only their mother tongue even for their academics. so i felt it would be good by promoting other languages in a separate section as well.
Just it is my suggestion. . . but your answers make sense

good points Martijn. I only know some French and less Turkish. English are well known for being lazy to learn other languages! We have a saying "It's all Greek to me" which means we don't understand it. So I could say "Chinese is all Greek to me"
