A world map of fingerprint distributions!

David C. Rife (Institute of Genetics and Department of Zoology, Ohio State University) presented in 1953 a world map displaying the distribution of fingerprints around the world in terms of the so-called 'pattern index' around the world. But how accurate is this world map really, and what can we learn from this world map today?
In a new article I present a new concept for understanding fingerprints with a data analysis of over 12.000 people from 12 countries in the world (including: Argentina, China, India, Iran, Israel, Korea, New Guinea, Nigeria, UK, USA, Vietnam & Yemen).
A thorough analysis demonstrates how fingerprints in Asia & the Middle East are distributed likewise (e.g. characterised by a dominance of whorls in the thumb, index finger & ring finger), while the fingerprints of (white) North-Europeans & Americans are more dominated by loops.
You can read much more about the 'pattern index' + the 'universal distribution' at:
http://www.handresearch.com/news/fingerprints-world-map-whorls-loops-arches.htm
(And learn how the significance of 10 fingerprints can be rated through this so-called 'universal distribution' as seen in the picture below)

Re: A world map of fingerprint distributions!
I would like to add one more thought:
The 'universal distribution' should be recognized as a new point of reference next to the so-called 'monomorphic distributions' (which can manifest as: 10 loops, 10 whorls or 10 arches).
But despite it's fundamentals, the 'universal distribution' is less common than the most common variant(s) of the 'monomorphic distributions'.
PS. The theoretical chance to find the 'universal distribution' in a pair of hands is smaller than 1% (the same is true in for example '10 loops' - though in practice the '10 loops' manifest about 10 times more often than expected).

Re: A world map of fingerprint distributions!
Cool... I just found an interesting related article from the year 2005, which described the frequency of the 7 most fingerprint types among a sample of 2000 US people, including: 5.000 asians, 5.000 blacks, 5.000 hispanics, and 5.000 whites:
http://www.crime-scene-investigator.net/fingerprintpatterns.html
And it is very interesting to see that this 'local' sample from the US state Georgia, confirms the patters that are also seen in the 1943 'fingerprints world map' + the samples which I have featured in my article:
- Whorls are BY FAR most common among asians (and on the ring finger);
- Ulnar loops are most common among blacks & whites (and on the pinky finger);
- Radial loops are BY FAR most common among whites (and BY FAR on the index finger);
- Arches are most common among in blacks & hispanics (and on the index finger).
The key-result from this article are presented in the following 2 tables:

Re: A world map of fingerprint distributions!
... Next to the aspect of 'race', another factor plays a significant role in the distribution of fingerprints: sexe!
The following study of fingerprints distributions among 5 world populations, demonstrates how sexe & race interact in fingerprints.
And the study e.g. firmly confirms an observation that has been reported by researchers since the first half of the 20th century: arch fingerprints are much more common in females, and whorls are more common in males:

The illustration below presents a visual overview of the details; and if you look closely you can see e.g. that the sexe-effects for arches and whorls are confirmed in all 5 populations, and both the sexe- and race effect is least observable in the index finger: ... to be continued!
