Wannabe Newbie tries to figure out how to participate in Heaven
Wow, what a wonderful place I have stumbled upon, a bit like Heaven. So many people interested, and knowledgable in palmistry, AND willing to share ideas !!!
Yes, I am a Newbie to palmistry, but also to computers, and to workings of a forum, so it has taken me ages to even figure out how to post. Sad really when others know how to text on a phone, on facebook with one finger while completing two other tasks.
As a Newbie I am trying to figure out where to begin reading posts, and how best to participate, and am open to all suggestions. My interest in palmistry is self discovery, and self treatment. I am in a hellish sort of place in life, for far too long, and I am trying to figure out what I did to get here so that I can learn to change, modify, my behaviors to garnish a more satisfying life.
I gather this means posting a pic of both hands on to a different forum, and hoping that some people will give generously of themselves and their knowledge. I tried scanning my hand on a flatbed copier type machine with only a black page as a result.it will likely take some time to figure out how to post hands, but I will be back when I do.
In the meantime I just want to express gratitutude for your site, and all the people who keep it alive.

Welcome to the forum Bwana. Hope you enjoy reading the posts (just start with whichever topic takes your interest!) and good luck with getting your hand pictures scanned or photographed, and posted. Feel free to ask if you need help with how to do anything on the forum, but so far you seem to be doing fine!

I am afraid I have to ask after all for help.... I have two ink printed images of my hands that
I would like to post, but can't seem to manage to to. I have discovered on the little boxes
in the post reply spot that mentions upload your image, but that is as far i have managed. I have the prints scanned and have tried to attach them to this site , i can see the http etc etc that it has captured an image, but that is all. when i hit host it, it all disappears into nothingness. I betcha there is just one small thing or two that I have missed here. Can you point it out? please??

more details here about hosting pictures
https://www.modernhandreadingforum.com/t3-an-impression-of-how-you-can-include-various-features-including-images-with-your-posts
erm, not sure why serv img isn't accepting your 'host it' request. Are they saved as .jpg files? Maybe the file size is too large? I think it only accepts up to 1MB file size?? (If so you can resize your images with various programmes eg pixresizer).

I think at the place it says host it, 3 links of code will come up. I copy and paste the code in the middle box to the post box where I want the image to show up in my text.

I thank you Lynn and now Patti, for your help.
this is as far as I have gotten. and as you see, no pics. tried the cut and past with the servimag box open. i have the pics saved as icons on the desktop and dragged them over, and also when I click the browse button a window opens up from my computer from an icon called scan to mail showing me the items. when i press the host it button, a blank page appears with the following info. but won't cut and paste or appear on the posting page.

When you right click on the little red x's in your last post and then click on properties, you can see the URL source of the photo.
In this case it's not a complete link.
Which means that maybe you only copied a portin of the url.
Click on the Host and Image Icon - roll mouse over to see label
Browse your computer for the scan. A window to your computer contents opens for you to select the file. Look for the folder the scans are in. Double click on the image. Or click on the word - Open.
Then click "host it"
Right click the text inside the box under the word "Image"
Click "select all"
Click "copy" on the side or you can right click the highlighted text and hit "copy" Make sure the text is highlighted. Select all is the best way to be sure.
Then don't worry about hitting "upload" simply paste the copied text where you want the image to be in your post.
Hitting upload will let you start over. Clicking on the icon will make the box go away. Hitting preview will make the box go away.
Hope this helps.

That works, but it reduces the image and distorts the fingerprints.
If you can upload from your computer you will have better control over the quality of the image that is uploaded.

Hello Patti and Lynn,
I am trying to figure out what that means, to upload from the computer..you see I thot I was. The image is scanned on the copier, picked up onto the computer, which politely stores it in a designated scan to email ?file for me find and then refind when I select the browse button on the serving box etc . Thanx to Patti? I finally clued in on when to copy and drag my uploaded image after it had been browsed bt serving. Well, that is my understanding of this process so far, which admittedly is not very good. ( what I do understand now is that I find this all very difficult, when judging by others, it should not require so much persistence for such little success. )
When I went back to inspect the fruits of my labor, I see that the pics are not so easy to read online as they are in the prints. I have played with the resolution when scanning, but this does not seem to be the answer. I suspect when they are saved into the scanned and waiting process? I have tried changing the options for size in the servimg box. One of you mentioned going to a site to resize the images, on the web I am guessing, which requires knowing how to upload images again.... Sigh. I am feeling very mentally challenged. I fear also that the images are not very workable, like I had hoped.
It is my wish to overcome this , and manage to hook some lovely people who might benefit in experience or otherwise, in some satisfying way, from engaging with me in my quest to understand myself better so that I might apply more appropriate behavior where needed. I am prepared to ponder ideas of all sorts, including the ideas of who I think I am may be a lie, or combination there of. Throw whatcha got at me, really- I am prepared to stand exposed to bone. I will answer with the upmost honesty, as that is the only way I think either party stands to gain anything of deep value in the exchange.
Let us see what we can gain, and let it be even grander than we could have imagined.

So far so good ,,,, BUT....
Were the images scanned at high enough resolution, or have they been reduced in the hosting process? They are not clear enough to see the skin ridges. Sorry Bwana I am not good at photo technology, hope someone else can help you.

Thank you Lynn for taking the time to reply. I appreciate that.
I wish to clarify what I need to fix.. Are all the prints un useable because the skin ridges are unclear...or just the finger prints one, and how to I clean up the site by deleting
All the useless pics? Less confusing that way I think.
I am working on trying to get photos of the hands, as that seems to be more useable than the ink prints, as no one seems to offer them nor are they asked for?
What I have noticed is that at first impression when look g at my hand print, and then at my actual hand, there seems to a difference in relevance. I mean which lines jump out.
And in length appearance. Say for IE the headlines, and I suspect are branches in both hands, coming off. First appearance is not so long ( because you only look at what appears very pink/ red? But when you look closer, or on the print, they extend farther then I thot, or appear so. They seem to extend around to side of the hand, and in some cases half way under my knuckle on the reverse side. I am confused about this.
I have been trying to look at a few lines, to determine where they start and finish but they seem very complex, misleading perhaps. Is it a simian variant with fused but broken head line, which is just one head, but two branches, is there a Sydney connection because they warp around the hand when you look close, or just "normal"
Length when you count only the pinker, deeper appearances part?
So many qts. Is there a limit? And what can I offer in exchange?

.. you asked Lynn, if if the resolution was high enuf, but I don't t know how high is enuf, but I did think of that before, and tried the finger prints at 300, 500 and 600 which is the highest the scanner would go. i saw no diff in anything.

Re: Wannabe Newbie tries to figure out how to participate in Heaven
Could I ask, what are you scanning to your computer? Are they the actual inkprints or are they photocopies of inkprints?
The resulting image you are uploading is heavily pixelated. This means the software stretched and distorted the image to enlarge it.
If you are scanning the original prints 300 and up is better, but the size is so large the location the image is stored (on line) reduces the image. This distorts the pixels in the opposite way and you get waves rather than boxes.
You need to crop the extra white space away from the image if your scanner or photo editing software allows. Then 'resize' the image to something over 800 pixels, maybe 1000 would work. Something under 1 MB is also a good thing.
If the image is saved by the scanner at anything over around 2,000 pixels it risks being automatically reduced when you upload it.

Patti, I am scanning an actual ink print in the computer, as a "photo" , using grey scale, at 300 resolution? , into a photo file called Picassa, which allowed me to see its properties as being size 800 kb, jpg 75 [411] 2204 x 3424 pixels. whew.
{ i am very frustrated at this inability to function as others, which leaves me very isolated and hating my self. just the reason I came looking for help from others, which ironically they can,t do because I can,t do.
sincerely, Loopy.

Try 600 resolution black and white
If you can save it like this to the computer you can do one of two things.
1) email it to me - email on my contact page at my website and I'll reduce and upload it.
2) Save the image to your desktop so you can find it quickly. Drop down box usually has choice of filing it in Documents or Pictures - it's before those so click the arrow back to get to Desktop.
Go to the file on your desktop and right click for options of way to open the file - choose an option that allows you to edit the photo.
If you have a photo editor, then click 'resize' and change only the top number to 1000, here you may have to experiment until the image fits the screen and the prints are not distorted. Could be 800 or 1200 pixels.
Then click 'save as' - probably in the "file" drop down box. Give it a new name (that way you keep the original intact to experiment with).
When you upload the photo use the box that shows a disk on top of an image - which I think you have been. Set the settings (drop down box where it says 800) to the word "no". Click "host it"
Then in the box that is labelled "Image" right click - click select all - text completely turns blue - ( or left click once and the text turns blue - either way works) Then right click the blue text and choose "copy". Go back to the post and right click and left click on the blank post page and choose 'paste'. Hit preview to see what you got. Good luck!! Sounds like a hand dance of right and left clicking

Don't get discouraged, once you get the hang of it, you will have that ah-ha! and it'll be easy. I'm just hoping that I explained all the details in the right order.

Dear Patti, and yes, I do mean " dear ".
You have really tried to help me on this one. I really appreciate it. Can' t say that as fully as I mean that. Thank you Patti.
I will try that in the morning. I have spent too many tears for today. I will have to wait till tomorrow's restock arrives.
