Feedback related to your "user experience"...?
Dear members,
During the past 2 weeks we have seen the activity in the forum speeding-up, so it would be interesting to hear something about... your "user-experience"!
For example, it would be nice to hear some feedback on the 'speed' of the forum: the download time of the homepage should be about 1 second... does that meet your experience
And do all pages download at a likewise speed
>> I can answer both questions with a
... but I am wondering: do you have the same experience??
Suggestions for further improvements are welcome!!
PS. Just in case somehow you're not able to respond to this forum (or login, etc), please use the mail adress of my website: www.handresearch.com

Re: Feedback related to your "user experience"...?
In South Africa we have the most expensive internet world and the slowest internet speed in the world (maximum of 33kbps running on ADSL) and the download time on the forum is fast, I have no problem browsing and I have no timeouts.

Re: Feedback related to your "user experience"...?
As Martijn knows, I am having problems accessing the forum!
It is taking 10- 20 minutes for each page to load! The problem seems to be related to my firewall (Comodo Internet Security, free version) but isn't consistent - on Saturday night I accessed the forum just fine! I am not having trouble accessing any other webpages, just this forum
I've been trying to solve this problem for over a week
I am here now because I disabled the firewall, but that doesn't work every time. Hence I haven't replied to many messages lately, but have been able to read them all - I go away and do something else for an hour while the pages load

Re: Feedback related to your "user experience"...?
Hi Lynn,
Thanks for describing your problem. So far I have no indication at all that your problem is directly related to the forum's software.
(Simply because from what you described it appears somehow be related to the functioning of your firewall - while no other members reported likewise firewall problems; maybe it would make sense so assume that the temporary firewall problem could also indicate another problem on your computer).
Anyway, I very much hope that you will be able to solve the mystery!!

Hi Lynn,
If you think that firewall is the problem, don't disable it, exit and even check in task manager if still there (end it) and than try. Just to be sure...
Does that also happen using other browsers?

Re: Feedback related to your "user experience"...?
Thanks Caprie, I appreciate you trying to help. Yes the problem occurs in Mozilla Firefox & Internet Explorer, on my PC and my laptop. I removed my firewall completely & still couldn't access the forum. I spent hours trying to solve this problem the last 7-10 days!!!
Re-installed the firewall, no luck.
yet just now I logged onto the forum absolutely fine, no problem!

I had fast upload last night, and again today. Maybe my re-installation of firewall solved the problem (I hope)!

Hi Lynn,
That's a good news, but maybe it wasn't problem related to your computers (it wasn't constant), so it could be that maybe some link between your provider and forumotion is/was not working properly. You can download a program called WinMTR (http://winmtr.sourceforge.net) and see if some packets get lost between you and forumotion if the problem occurs again.

It's all working great for me. NO problems accessing pages timing is totally related to my computer stuff if I have an issue which is rare.

I forgot to report that re-installing the firewall did indeed solve the problem! I have accessed the forum just fine ever since.

Here in India, the speeds vary depending on the net traffic, but overall, it has been easy to upload and post responses and pictures easily.
