Hello all

I find some thinghs simple but still mysterious. Like for example if you see the trinity concept there is some similarities, for example if you look at the basic lines there are three basic line (heart, head, life line), three phalanges, triradius. ofcourse exception are there, but is there somethingh why thinghs should be this way.

Thanks

Gurdjieff assigns importance to the law of the three, active passive and neutralizing. The father, the ghost and the holy son. Its an interesting concept. Most people see only the first two forces. The latter is more difficult to discern.

Hi Anand,
3 & 7 are having some importance.
I don't know WHY.
You can look into the books of Cheiro and might get some info.

Gurdjieff talks extensively also about the law of the seven. This is the origin of the octave system in music. People who understood this law left us the octave system.

Hi Boaz,
not only in music, it has high significance in nature too. Particularly, in Indian epic literature and the religion it has high significance.
7 is called as SAPTHA
So, we have
saptha rishis - 7 great sages
saptha sagars - 7 seas
saptha vaaras - 7 days
saptha padi - 7 steps taken during the ritual of marriage(Each step has a meaning)
saptha swara - 7 swaras of music
etc.

Have to read Gurdjieff's writings.

Hi Kiran, Interesting, I wasn't aware of this significance. Gurdjieff goes beyond the symbolism and explains the law itself, though not an easy subject to understand.

Hello all

Like kiran mentioned in hindu myth we have given importance to seven, seven is a mystery number and spirtual number.

also combination of 3 is also mystery number, like 3,6,9 usually 9 is regarded as shakti's number, in fact if you read cheiro book on numerolgy he would mentioned about this. 6 is symbolied in hindu myth in the form of symbols of two traingles merged together like judiac symbols which you can notice in a lot of hindu temples. The two traingles joined together form 6 small traingles which is the symbol of Lord Karthikeya. 3 is symbol of jupiter or guru number.

Also we have 7 hills, lord of seven hills ect..

Like wise there are mysteries as boaz mentioned the father, son holy ghost in a similar analogy Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma (Holy Trinity).

How these thinghs are this fashion i have no clue. 108 is another mystery 108 temples are there of every god in india.

Anand, I've been interested in this topic for many years. The best description of these laws that I've been able to find are given by Gurdjieff and his students. An excellent introduction would be "In Search of the Miraculous" by Ouspensky. I think you should be able to google a pdf version of it, but you should be able to find a copy in any local esoteric bookstore. There may be explanations in the Vedas, but I don't know Sanskrit. It also seems the case that such esoteric principles were passed by oral tradition to accomplished students. There are manifestations of these laws around us, worthwhile contemplating.

Glad you found the link. My interests lean more toward scientific type research, I would try. say, to duplicate the laws of 3 and 7 through some kind of experiment, e.g using a musical instrument and studying the effects of vibrations. I am curious about numerology but personally would not allocate my time to study it. This is my perspective. Good luck following your interests.

Boaz, you can apply the concept of 7 for assessing age on life line.

Kiran, The division into 7 seems pretty arbitrary, 9 for example, could have worked out just as well.
