I'm the granddaughter of Josef Ranald

Hi -- I'm the granddaughter of Josef Ranald and new to this forum. I've seen a few discussions here regarding my grandfather and would love to participate in any new ones. While I have no background in palmistry at all, I am trying to learn about it as I am writing a book about my grandfather.

Hello Caroline   welcome to the forum.
In various forums over the years there has been much discussion about the handprint that your grandfather presented as Adolf Hitler's hand. Are you able to tell us anything about it? eg do you know how and where your grandfather got this handprint - and of course whether it really is Hitler's hand? !

Thanks for the welcome! Sadly, I don't have anything regarding handprints other than what is in my grandfather's books and films. So, I have nothing really to add regarding Hitler's handprints. However, I have read in several sources that my grandfather knew Erik Jan Hanussen who was Hitler's personal astrologer, and that he read Rudolf Hess' palm as well. It may be possible that my grandfather did indeed meet Hitler and took a handprint. According to both his books and a short film called "Hands of Destiny" (1941), he read Hitler's palm in 1932 at the Hotel Kaiserhof in Berlin. I am still trying to figure out if that meeting could have taken place. PS I have read Fitzherbert's book and wonder why he is so adamant that my grandfather is one of the great charlatans. I honestly know nothing about palm reading, and am slowly learning more, but I wonder at the vehemence of his statements.

Yes, it's in The Palmist's Companion. I'm wondering what Fitzherbert's reputation is among palmists? Again, I'm very ignorant and just learning, so I have no sense of context here.

Caroline have you seen this interview with your grandfather Josef Ranald, in The American Weekly, magazine of the MIlwaukee Sentinel newspaper, March 28th 1943, about his experience reading Hitler's hand. He predicted that Hitler would die around 54th year. This newspaper was printed about 3 weeks before Hitler's 54th birthday. According to history he died age 56.

At the same time I found another news snippet but I didn't save the link. However I just discovered - if you click on the link I gave you, put Josef Ranald into the search box and search archives, it brings up other articles where your grandfather is mentioned in various American newspapers, eg about Rudolph Hess & Danny Kaye's hands, and some amusing paragraphs about archetypes in his series "Know people by their dancing!
